History and specifications[]
The Aventine class was launched by Starfleet in 2409 with the refit of the original Vesta-class ship USS Aventine. Designated a multi-mission reconnaissance explorer, the Aventine-class starship was a combined science vessel, carrier and battleship explorer. The class carried a crew complement of 750 and was able to launch a four-ship squadron of Danube-class runabouts to aid the ship in combat. Standard equipment included Mk X-rated weapons and systems, and an advanced quantum slipstream drive. (STO - Klingon War mission: "Welcome to Earth Spacedock")

Bridge[]
As a tier 5 starship, the commanding officer of an Aventine-class science vessel was required to be ranked vice admiral or higher. The bridge crew included five more officers: 1 science officer ranked commander, 1 lieutenant commander of any department, one lieutenant-ranked engineer and tactical officer each, and one ensign of any department. Livery[]
In the 25th century, the design of the Aventine-class multi-mission surveillance explorer allowed its commanding officer to choose from different designs of livery, which could be modified further at starbases. These options were designated Type 1-5, Vesta, Upgrade and Veteran. (STO - Klingon War mission: "Welcome to Earth Spacedock")
Furthermore, the installation of deflector shields from specific factions modified the hull appearance, including shields from the Reman Resistance, the Breen Confederacy and the Dominion. (STO missions: "Coliseum", "Cold Storage", "Boldly They Rode")
