Awnedre is presumably the name of an energy creature native to the Delta Quadrant. Awnedre was fascinated by Kathryn Janeway and the intelligent lifeforms from the USS Voyager when they visited its planet, and helped to save Janeway's life, in defiance of the rest of its kind. Awnedre left its planet with Voyager, and inspired by the ship's name and mission, became a "voyager" itself. (VOY short story: "I, Voyager")
