B'hava'el (also referred to as the Bajor system or Bajoran system), is a star with an associated star system located 62 light-years from the Sol system, in the space of Bajor sector in the galaxy's Alpha Quadrant.

Details[]

The Bajor system contains 14 planets which orbit a single G-type star. The system also contains the Denorios Belt which itself contains the Alpha Quadrant terminus of the Bajoran wormhole.

In addition to being the home of the Bajoran people the system has been occupied by the Cardassians for a long period of the mid-24th century and the Dominion in the Dominion War. As of 2376 the system became part of Federation space with Bajor's admittance into the United Federation of Planets. (DS9 novel: Unity)

During the Cardassian occupation a number of small outposts were established throughout the system on small planets and moons by the Bajoran Resistance. These are now maintained by the Federation with minimal maintenance and have been supplemented with additional Starfleet equipment including subspace monitors, emergency beacons and supply caches. (ST reference: Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Technical Manual)

Stellar information[]

B'hava'el (also called Bajor) was the main sequence (type G2V or bright yellow dwarf) star of the Bajoran system. The star was orbited by at least two class M worlds, including Bajor and Bajor VIII. Bajor-B'hava'el is approximately 60 light-years away from Sol. (DS9 reference: Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Technical Manual, Last Unicorn RPG module: Star Trek: Deep Space Nine - Narrator's Toolkit, ST website : StarTrek.com)

History[]

The light energy from B'hava'el was instrumental in the Bajorans' travel across the system, as their lightships, equipped with solar sails, used it. (DS9 episode: "Explorers")

Prior to the Dominion War, the star was a target of the Founder who had replaced Doctor Julian Bashir. He constructed a weapon comprised of trilithium, tekasite, and protomatter. This weapon would have caused Bajor-B'hava'el to go supernova. The real Doctor Bashir - along with Worf, Son of Mogh and Garak - escaped from Dominion captivity just in time to warn Deep Space 9 that a Changeling infiltrator was on board. Discovering the runabout USS Yukon speeding towards Bajor-B'hava'el with the changeling on board, the USS Defiant dragged the runabout away from the star before the weapon could be used. (DS9 episode: "By Inferno's Light")

In TNG video game: Birth of the Federation, the orbital configuration of the game map star systems was randomly generated each time a new game started.
