Memory Beta, non-canon Star Trek Wiki

The planet killer was an ancient automated Preserver starship, a doomsday machine in Klingon Empire service. The vessel was delivered by the Na'kuhl to the House of B'vat in the 23rd century. In the 2400s decade, Ambassador B'vat deployed it in Federation space. (STO - Klingon War mission: "The Doomsday Device")

Service history and disposition[]

The Na'kuhl extremists from the 29th century attempted to manipulate the Klingons in the 23rd century. The Klingons did not fall for the Na'kuhl but remembered the planet killer's location.

In the year 2409, B'vat had fitted his planet killer with a control device. He brought it to a secret facility in the Imaga star system, located in the Beta Quadrant and Sirius sector block of Federation space. B'vat sought to unleash his device against Federation worlds to create endless war and strife - to strengthen the Klingon Empire by extending the Federation-Klingon War of 2405-2410.

First officer K'Valk of the IKS Targ learned of the plans and found them dishonorable. He sent a warning to Starfleet, which landed him in the brig. Starfleet attacked the Klingon shipyard in the Donia system and captured the B'rel-class bird of prey. Removed from the brig, K'Valk allied with the Starfleet away team.

Starfleet Intelligence led a covert ops mission to the Imaga system, where K'Valk destroyed B'vat's control device, leaving the planet killer without anyone's control. The Doomsday device aimed its beam at a nearby moon and obliterated that world.

K'Valk's shuttle crashed into the mouth of the planet killer, dealing damage. The IKS Targ, equipped with hargh'peng torpedoes, kept attacking the planet killer while a Starfleet armada battled with a House of B'vat fleet. The Targ destroyed the planet killer, which ended the battle in the system. K'men of Imperial Intelligence demanded the ship returned, which Commander Ethan Burgess of Starfleet Intelligence allowed.

Starfleet provided a trophy of the destroyed planet killer for display in the mess hall. (STO - Klingon War mission: "The Doomsday Device")
