The Back to Earth Movement was an organization that began in the early 21st century that opposed space travel and Human settlement of other planets besides Earth.

When rumors of an alien "invasion" began to spread in October of 2045, the Back to Earth Movement responded by holding a prayer meeting in Salt Lake City, Utah, and calling for an end to all space exploration programs, including the UNSS Icarus mission to Alpha Centauri, then three years from Earth. (TOS novel: Strangers from the Sky)

By the early 23rd century, the Back-to-Earth Movement was led by Maxwell Grandisson III. (TOS - Worlds Apart novel: The Final Reflection)

At some point during this century, a number of female leaders of the movement despaired at the political climate in the Federation and departed to form their own society which later settled on Angel One, with the colonists becoming known as Angelites. (FASA RPG module: Star Trek: The Next Generation Officer's Manual)

George Kirk was a mayor of a town in Iowa, and ran under the "Back-to-Earth" ticket. This political party required that primitive farming be done by its members, and most of this fell to a young James T. Kirk, as his father was far too busy. (TOS novel: World Without End)
