For the primary universe counterpart, see Badlands.
Badlands mirror universe

The Badlands in the 2370s.

In the mirror universe, the Badlands was a region of space known for its plasma storms. (DS9 episode: "Through the Looking Glass")

History[]

In 2371, the newly formed Terran Rebellion set up several bases in the Badlands. When Jennifer Sisko was close to finishing a transpectral sensor array for the Alliance, Miles O'Brien took Benjamin Sisko hostage from Deep Space 9 to pose as his deceased counterpart and convince Jennifer to stop her project as the Alliance would be able to detect every rebellion base in the Badlands. (DS9 episode: "Through the Looking Glass")

Following the destruction of Terok Nor in 2377, O'Brien ordered the survivors to regroup at Athos IV in the Badlands. (ST - Mirror Universe novel: Rise Like Lions)

Mirror Badlands

The Badlands in 2409.

In 2409, an anomaly connected the Badlands with its primary universe counterpart. This was exploited by the Changeling who posed as Gul Kardek of the True Way. He established a communications link with Captain Leeta of Imperial Starfleet and obtained the Orb of Possibilities. When an Allied ship raided Kardek's base, they recovered the orb but were engaged by Terran Empire ships outside the moonbase. (STO - Cardassian Struggle mission: "Spoils of War")

Soon after, Sarish Minna of Deep Space 9 dispatched a ship to the Badlands. They crossed into the mirror Badlands through the anomaly, where Captain Leeta commanded a task force, led by the ISS Fortuna. The ships were defeated by Sarish's team, who left the Badlands for nearby Bajor. In the 2400s, the Badlands were suffused with green-blue plasma that appeared like floors of fire. (STO - Cardassian Struggle mission: "Jabberwocky")

Admiral Leeta, now in command of the Terran flagship ISS Enterprise-F, organised the invasion of the primary universe through the Badlands from 2410 to 2411. The Terran Empire pushed starbases and fleets of ships into the primary Badlands but were repelled by the Khitomer Alliance forces defending the region, led by Commander Mesi Achebe of the USS Malinche. STO - New Dawn mission: "Badlands Battlezone")
