Baikanaad Isthmus.
The Baikanaad Isthmus was a prominent geographic landmark and population center on the planet Aleriad. Its independent city of Baikanaad served as the world's de facto capital city.
History and specifics[]
22 million Alerians resided on the isthmus, 77% outside city limits. Seasonally, half of each year on the isthmus was an overly-humid wet season with total rainfall averaging 45". The other half of the year was a dry season that averaged 40° Fahrenheit, with melting snowfall but otherwise extremely arid.
Coastlines of the Reijaani and Delfhano seas bordered the east and west sides of the isthmus. Shallow mountains ran north to south along the isthmus, such that the city of Baikanaad was nestled in a valley in between coastal ports. The Iniut Lal region of farmland lay to the north, and the rugged Cegheka Range lay to the south.
In the 2260s decade, explorer Ershan Costello visited the Baikanaad Isthmus and its city while scouting for the Federation.
In the year 2270, spacial debris strikes pulverized Aleriad's crust, destroying all life. Prior to the disaster, the Federation Council dispatched Ambassador Robert Fox on an emergency evacuation effort with the USS Enterprise. Surviving refugees originated from a religious sect native to the isthmus. (FASA RPG module: Denial of Destiny)
