The Baikonur Cosmodrome (or Baykonur Kosmodrom) was a space launch facility in Kazakhstan in western Asia, operated by the Soviet Union, and later Russia. It was from this facility that Earth's first manned space flight was launched. Baikonur Cosmodrome remained an important center for spaceflight into the 24th century.

The SS Mariposa was launched from Baikonur in 2123. (TNG episode: "Up the Long Ladder")

Research into the construction of the first Warp 5 engine was reportedly conducted there in the early 22nd century, prior to Henry Archer's own breakthrough. (Star Trek: Myriad Universes novel: A Less Perfect Union)

The SS Tsiolkovsky was constructed at Baikonur. (TNG episode: "The Naked Now")
