Baker's World is a planet, the sixth planet in orbit of Baker's Star, located in the region of space known as The Triangle, and is the lead center for the Affiliation of Outer Free Worlds. It is Baker's World that is the source of the unofficial name for the AOFW, 'Baker's Dozen'.

Commerce and culture[]

Supported by a spaceport at Bakersville, the planet is a major trading power within the Triangle. Most of its wealth comes from rich, although very deep, mineral deposits. Furthermore, Baker's World maintains an open trade policy which is designed to develop the planet's resources to their fullest potential.

Surprisingly, Baker's World has little hardcore criminal activity despite the wealth to be had.

There were no restrictions on freedom of expression, and most of the inhabitants were content to allow Willis J.F. Baker, the latest charismatic member of the Baker family, to be president and exercise his control over the governing representative body. President Baker was also the leader of the AOFW in the 2280s. (FASA RPG module: The Triangle)

Acquiring stolen property sourced from piracy was punishable by planetary banishment. (FASA RPG module: Spacelanes: The Magazine of Interstellar Trade)

History[]

The world was named for USS Cavalier's science officer David Lawrence Baker, who first sighted the planet. (FASA RPG module: The Romulan War)

Baker's survey party was stranded there for seven months in the late 2150s after Cavalier was destroyed by Romulan cruisers on reference stardate 1/0811.01. (FASA RPG module: The Federation)

In the late 2210s, on reference stardate 1/5309.02, Baker's son Leland Baker founded a colony there. Succeeding him as its leader were Leland's son Everett and his son Willis. By the 2280s, the planet was catalogued with a technological/sociopolitical index of 999994-87 and a planetary trade profile of DDCFEFG A (B). (FASA RPG module: The Triangle)

In the late 2280s, around reference stardate 2/23, Baker's World was the home assignment of Starfleet Intelligence agent Lieutenant Commander Semak, who had assumed a cover identity in front organization Conestoga Terraforming AG. (FASA RPG module: Star Fleet Intelligence Manual)

Specifics[]

Found at coordinates 9.5S 6.2E, the class M planet has a terrestrial atmosphere, temperate climate, and light gravity. (FASA RPG module: The Triangle)

Its climate was cooler than on Earth and was a source of tritanium oxide. Native animal life included packs of six-legged mammals. It had two small moons. (FASA RPG module: The Romulan War)

Starfleet Intelligence maintained a field station for Triangle sector Intelligence on Baker's World. (FASA RPG module: Star Fleet Intelligence Manual)
