Doctor Balthus was a female individual who served on board the USS Enterprise-D as a botanist in the 24th century.

In 2367, Balthus was the reason why Keiko O'Brien was late to get to her quarters, as she told Miles O'Brien. Balthus wanted her to do a study on the laticifer ontogeny of Kaladian thorn flowers, but Keiko was busy with other projects. (TNG episode: "Night Terrors")

It was not specified if Balthus was a civilian like Keiko or was in Starfleet.
