The Bandersnatch is a fictional character referenced in Through the Looking-Glass, and What Alice Found There, a novel written by Lewis Carroll in 1871.

History[]

In 2267, Kevin Riley confounded personnel in the upper levels of the generation ship Wanderer by sending them a programmed series of absurd, automated toys, including several modeled on the Bandersnatch. (TOS novel: The Galactic Whirlpool)

In 2269, a disparate group of ambassadors aboard the Enterprise reminded Kirk of characters from Alice in Wonderland. In frustration, Montgomery Scott described Rovar of Hemiptera as an ugly bedbug and a Bandersnatch because he complained about the shade of green on the walls of his quarters. (TOS novel: Death's Angel)
