The Bandor system's orbit was the location of at least 1 planet, and also held many moons and asteroids. The nearest Starfleet outpost to the system was Starbase 122, at a location where it would take two days for a class-9 probe to deliver information to or from the system.
In 2370, the starship USS Enterprise-D was sent to map the system where it was attacked by an unknown assailant. (TNG - The Space Between comic: "Strategy")
