Banea was a planet in the galaxy's Delta Quadrant, in orbit of the Banea star system.
History and specifics[]
Banea was homeworld to the Baneans, an independent spacefaring civilization in competition with rival neighbors, the militaristic Numiri. The Federation starship USS Voyager stopped at Banea in the year 2371 to repair a damaged collimator. While on Banea, Lieutenant Tom Paris was convicted of murder and forced to relive the act repeatedly through memory implants, the Banean penal method, until a Numiri spy was revealed to be the true killer. (VOY episode: "Ex Post Facto")
Following the escalation of hostilities, the Numiri retaliated against the Baneans by rendering Banea unable to support higher life. An Entity searching for dark matter surveyed the system early in 2376, and found only grasses, microbes and bacteria. The Entity was uncertain whether any Baneans and Numiri had survived their conflict. (VOY - Dark Matters novel: Ghost Dance)
