A banyan is a type of tree.
In 2267, a dilithium shipment stolen by pirates was buried at the foot of a banyan in a jungle on Taos IV. A year later, in 2268, Black Jack Nova followed a map showing the location of the dilithium to the same tree, but when his crew dug there, they found nothing, as Ben Cannon had moved the dilithium to his cave.
