Doctor Baptiste was a 23rd century Human individual. By the mid-2260s decade, Baptiste was working as a physician at the medical center in Sierra City on planet Alpha Proxima II.

Following the planet-wide break-out of a virus, Baptiste became the de facto surgeon general following the death's of most of the planet's politicians and community leaders. Following the USS Enterprise's arrival in orbit, Baptiste was contacted by Chief Medical Officer Leonard McCoy, leading Baptiste to inform him about what they've discovered about the virus.
