Barada Damar was a male Cardassian politician who rose into a leadership role on the planet Cardassia during the aftermath of the Dominion War. Barada was the nephew of Legate Corat Damar, the late leader of the Cardassian Liberation Front.

Biography[]

After Legate Corat Damar broadcasted a speech that denounced the Dominion and launched his rebellion to expel their rule from Cardassia, his relatives were hunted down for execution on the instructions of the Female Changeling in 2375. Having been able to avoid this fate, Barada was the only one of the whole extended Damar family to survive after his uncle was also killed in the final hours of the war. (ST - The Red Path comic: "Part 2")

In 2378, 3 years after the end of the Dominion War, Damar became the First Speaker of the Cardassian Reclamation, leader of Cardassia's parliamentary assembly. His close associates were the Vorta Yeor and the Jem'Hadar Zero who stayed on Cardassia after the war. (ST - The Red Path comic: "Part 1")

After Benjamin Sisko's return in 2378, Damar lured him to Cardassia and used a pain field to imprison him. Sisko was put on trial, with Yeor acting as prosecutor, condemning Sisko for the repercussions that his actions had brought upon the Cardassian people, who had been the victims to attempted genocide at the end of the Dominion War. In reality, Damar had utilised the trial to identify the opposition within his new Restoration and order the execution of all those who gathered to testify against the Starfleet captain. He then led a Cardassian force to attack Tong Beak Nor, which had fallen into the hands of a militant splinter faction of his people who had been converted to the Red Path cult. (ST - The Red Path comics: "Part 2", "Part 3")

Later that year, Damar led a Cardassian Reclamation fleet towards Tzenketh, in response to perceived threat from the Tzenkethi. (ST - A Savage World of Glass and Bone comic: "Part 4")
