Barak VII (also known as Barak-7) was a planet located somewhere in the space of the galaxy's Alpha or Beta Quadrants, the seventh planet in orbit of the Thorian-V star system.

History and specifics[]

The planet's surface had areas of rocky, mountainous terrain with available plant life, and was the homeworld of a humanoid civilization, the Barak-7 natives. The natives were at a primitive stage of development in the 23rd century, gathering in tribal groups around warlords, using cudgels as their weapons of choice. Their religion and mythology were simple concepts centered around worshiping a Dragon God imaginied in the image of the planet's reptile lifeforms, and offering sacrifices and making idols to win the favor of the god's magic.

Captain James T. Kirk, in his captain's log, described Barak-7 as a "lush blue world" in his log entry on stardate 7673.6. The Federation starship Enterprise visited for the purpose of accumulating data on the properties of Barak-7's unique magnetic field, a field so powerful that it seriously disrupted communications facilities and rendered transporters inoperative. (TOS comic: "Domain of the Dragon God!")
