Barbara Brinson was a 24th century Human woman, an officer of Starfleet in the 2380s decade assigned to the USS Vancouver.
Biography[]
She once dated Jet Manhaver, and the two shared a close camaraderie afterward.
In the year 2380, Brinson began dating Ensign Brad Boimler after the two initially met on Vendu. This was despite the fact she swore to never do long distance, primarily due to the fact that Boimler radiated primal confidence. (LD episode: "Cupid's Errant Arrow")
While they dated, he wanted her to call him "tough guy". She thought it was cute. (LD video game: The Badgey Directive episode: "Drumming Up Suspects")
Within the next month, Brinson was involved in a temporal anomaly that resulted in her going back to 1920s Chicago. Thanks to her ability to reverse the polarity and reboot the timestream, she was able to return to the 24th century and avoid being stuck in the past.
When the Vancouver was joined by the USS Cerritos at Mixtus III to assist in a controlled demolition of an unstable moon, Brinson was reunited with Boimler. Originally, the two were to have lunch on the Cerritos, but that was canceled because she had to assist Manhaver in recalibrating the containment field when the implosion was postponed.
During this time, Beckett Mariner suspected that Brinson wasn't what she appeared to be, as she seemed to be "a little too great". Coincidently, Brinson believed Mariner was a parasite as it was unlikely her and Boimler were best friends. After fighting each other, Brinson let herself be scanned by Mariner to confirm she was actually Human. However, the tricorder did detect a signtaure of a parasite onboard Orbital Platform Gamma.
In the end, the parasite was actually coming from Boimler, where it was attached to his head covered by hair. Because the parasite makes their host chemically irresistible to potential mates, it was assumed that was the reason the two of them got together. After that realization, Brinson ended the relationship to focus on her work and studying the parasite that had infected Boimler. (LD episode: "Cupid's Errant Arrow")
In 2381, Brinson was among visitors to the Cerritos who got trapped by the malevolent artificial intelligence Badgey on the holodeck. During the lower deckers' effort to earn enough merit points for Badgey to release them, Brinson oversaw the Chateau Picard simulation. (LD video game: The Badgey Directive)
In one of Badgey's drills, Brinson served as operations officer while Jet Manhaver manned the security console and Sam Rutherford was in command. She reminded Rutherford they were investigating an asteroid field, but couldn't engage the warp engines because Mariner had brought tribbles into engineering. (LD video game: The Badgey Directive event: "Wacky Wednesday")
While trapped by Badgey, D'Vana Tendi accidentally ingested some wine and dreamed that ship's personnel had become afflicted with a libido-freeing virus. In the dream, Brinson laughed at one of Boimler's jokes and said she'd definitely be seeing him later. (LD video game: The Badgey Directive episode: "The Naked Later")
Following a suspicious console explosion in engineering, Brinson reported having seen Manhaver near there while walking from sickbay to the shuttle bay. She later attended a hearing that investigated the event. (LD video game: The Badgey Directive episode: "Drumming Up Suspects")
Brinson occasionally made plomeek soup for Lieutenant Durga. One time, however, Brinson suggested pairing it with a bordeaux. (LD video game: The Badgey Directive episode: "Amor Time")
