Bardeck Gorales was an Orion pirate of the 24th century and member of the Orion Syndicate.
Most of his youth was spent running with gangs of renegade Andorian gangs, and he occasionally worked as a mercenary in the conflicts between the Klingons and the Romulans during the 2340s. Later, he engaged in privateering during the Federation-Cardassian War (presumably on the Cardassian side), and took up outright piracy following the ceasefire, when he preyed on both Federation and Klingon ships.
During the Klingon Civil War, he backed the House of Duras, and following Gowron's victory in 2267, he fled into the Draconis Outback. There, in the Altanis Idrilon system, he came across an abandoned Klingon station, which he seized and transformed into a pirate haven named Gorkon's Retreat.
The Retreat was powerful and served as a major centre for black market and illegal trade throughout the Alpha Quadrant, making Gorales a key figure in the Orion Syndicate. (Decipher RPG module: Narrator's Guide; Last Unicorn RPG module: Raiders, Renegades & Rogues)
