A bargump was a large animal native to the planet Midgwis.

History and specifics[]

The Federation considered bargumps and flaygrubs to be the world's dominant lifeforms. Their mating calls sounded like wailing sirens. Humanoid Midgwin avoided them, settling as far from them as they could.

In the mid-2260s decade, bargumps were known to the Federation contact team stationed on Midgwis.

In the year 2268, Midgwin telepath Yarblis Geshkerroth thought of the Enterprise as an "iron bargump" when he inhabited the physical body of Captain James T. Kirk for several days. (TOS novel: Ghost-Walker)
