Barnard's Star (also known as V2500 Ophiuchi) is a star system, a binary star in the space of the galaxy's Alpha Quadrant
This binary consists of two type M red stars located about 1.8 parsecs (5.9 light-years) from Earth, where it is visible in the constellation of Ophiuchus. Barnard's Star lies in Sector 001, in the general vicinity of Beta Comae Berenices and Sol. (ST references: Spaceflight Chronology, Star Charts)
