A battle was an armed engagement between different parties. Peaceful resolutions sought to avoid hostile engagements. Battles were part of wars and were affected by military power. In the 2250s decade, the decision of Commander Michael Burnham to trust or circumvent her commanding officer, Captain Philippa Georgiou, during a confrontation with the warmonger T'Kuvma decided whether the Battle of the Binary Stars or Standoff at the Binary Stars took place.
