The Battle of Galorndon Core was a military engagement between the United Earth and the Romulan Star Empire in 2157 during the Earth-Romulan War.
History[]
When the Romulans decided to annex Galorndon Core for its tactical position and rich dilithium resources, the Earth starship Enterprise was dispatched to the system in order to evacuate the scientists Hans Ruden and Emily Jensen who maintained a science station on the planet.
The IRW Raon engaged the Enterprise at the planet, but the Earth ship was able to disable the Raon and then deployed ground troops to science station. The MACO troops were soon engaged by Romulan forces but were successful in evacuating the scientists. In the meantime, the Raon left and reentered the system on a ramming course towards the planet.
The Raon struck the planet at warp four, leading to the ship's destruction and igniting the planet's dilithium stockpile ablaze. Fortunately, the MACO troops escaped in the nick of time with their mission accomplished. (ENT - The Romulan War novel: To Brave the Storm)
