History and specifics[]
Pavel Chekov fashioned his own recipe for beef stroganov, heavy on the mushrooms. In the 2260s decade, he gave Nurse Christine Chapel a recipe, made with butter, Spanish onions, mushrooms, flour, sour cream, sliced filet mignon, pepper, and salt. In the year 2270 while taking shore leave on Okeanos, Chekov was served beef stroganoff and vodka in exchange for sharing stories of his various travels to different planets. (TOS novel: From the Depths)
