Bell was a 23rd century Human man. He served in Starfleet in the command division aboard the Federation starship USS Enterprise under Captain James T. Kirk in the 2260s.

History[]

In 2269, the USS Enterprise became trapped in the Delta Triangle, passing into the realm of Elysia, along with the IKS Klothos. During an exchange of technology and personnel to prepare an escape, Bell and Engineer Frank Gabler were armed with phasers and assigned as relief security guards for the dilithium vault. They reached their posts a few minutes later than intended, only to discover two Klingon engineers loitering nearby. Bell and Gabler brought the two Klingons to the bridge and reported the incident to Captain James T. Kirk. Via telepathy, Spock sensed that sabotage was planned. (TAS episode & Log Four novelization: The Time Trap)

As Gabler was an engineer and Bell was not dressed like a security officer, Bell's regular duty assignment was unclear.
