Commander Benjamin Tuval was a male Human Starfleet officer who served as security chief aboard the Federation starship USS Enterprise in the 2250s during its first five-year mission under Captain Christopher Pike. Doctor Phillip Boyce noted that he was the largest human aboard the ship, standing over two meters and weighing 110 kilos.
When the Enterprise journeyed to Starbase 18 to investigate its destruction, Tuval was the only member of his away team to survive the exploration of its remains. The security chief was seriously injured, and his lung capacity was permanently limited after Pike ordered Dr. Boyce to remove Tuval from regen early because he needed his expertise.
