Northpacific

Earth map.

The Bering Sea was a body of water located on Earth. The Bering Sea was over 2 million square kilometers in size, and was part of the northern Pacific Ocean, separating the continents of North America and Asia.

Following their release from captivity, the humpback whales George and Gracie were taken in a specially designed airplane to the Bering Sea, where they were released and the two whales soon became targets of whalers operating in the area. George and Gracie were saved by Admiral James T. Kirk and the senior officers of the late USS Enterprise when Kirk ordered the HMS Bounty to decloak over the whaler's ship. The Bounty beamed the two whales on board and then left Earth's atmosphere. During this time it was tracked by a station in Nome, Alaska. (TOS novelization: The Voyage Home)
