Lieutenant Berkley was a human Starfleet officer who was assigned to the USS Enterprise in the 2260s.

Berkley was cross-trained in many duties aboard the Enterprise and was often assigned to the sciences division, engineering division, or transporter operations. In late 2266, Berkley served as a science officer, and was one of several crewmen to admire Yeoman Janice Rand as she walked past. (TOS episode: "The Man Trap")

In early 2267, Berkley was on transporter duty when the Enterprise transported supplies to the Tantalus V penal colony. When he tried to beam down supplies to the colony without first checking that the colony's shields were down, Captain James T. Kirk advised him to recheck the procedures manual. (TOS episode: "Dagger of the Mind")
