Beta Canzandia was a star system located in the galaxy's Alpha or Beta Quadrants, located at the edge of Federation space near its border with the Klingon Empire in the galaxy's Alpha or Beta Quadrants. Klingons considered it to be in a Federation sector.

History and specifics[]

Ten planets orbited the system. Third planet Beta Canzandia III was home to a Federation research colony. (TOS novel: Faces of Fire, ST - New Worlds, New Civilizations short story: "Ashes, Ashes")

It was one day's travel from Starbase 7, and less than five days from Alpha Maluria at warp six. The colony maintained regular subspace communications with Starbase 12.

In 2268, the colony, led by Doctors Yves Boudreau and Carol Marcus, was attacked by Klingon forces seeking the scientific work being performed there upon terraforming theory. A landing party from the Federation starship USS Enterprise visited the world to provide routine medical checkups, and was able to aid the colonists during the Klingon raid while the Enterprise was in another system. IKS Kad'nra fled the system when the Enterprise returned. (TOS novel: Faces of Fire)

The stellar notation using the Greek language letter "beta" indicates that there might be a star group or constellation of some sort named "Canzandia", of which Beta Canzandia would logically be indicated to be the second most prominent star or system.
