Beta Cygni, also known as Albireo and Cygnia Minor, was a trinary star with an associated star system visible from Earth in the Cygnus constellation about 400 light years from Sol, and was located in the galaxy's Alpha Quadrant.
History and specifics[edit | edit source]
Beta Cygni consisted of a type G yellow giant primary, a type B blue star and an type F white dwarf. The dwarf was a variable star with a 27-year cycle that created periods of high radiation. (ST reference: Star Trek Maps)
By the mid-24th century, Albireo was part of territory disputed between the Breen and the Sheliak. In 2360, the USS Portia under the command of Jean-Luc Picard traveled in the direction of Kitalpha, then toward Albireo in a course meant to avoid territories of the Breen Confederacy and Sheliak Corporate.
