Beta Epsilon VI natives were an otherwise unnamed humanoid culture native to the planet Beta Epsilon VI.

Biology[]

Members of this mammalian species were slender and diminutive, with gray-colored skin and narrow fingers. They had large, white, reflective eyes without apparent pupils. They presented a decidedly rat-like appearance, with a snout, small mouths, tiny teeth, and large round ears. Men wore their hair much shorter than women.

History[]

In the 23rd century, the natives' pre-industrial population rated B on the Richter Scale of Culture. They had advanced to the level of planned agriculture and village communities. They had domesticated at least one animal species for use as mounts, as well as to pull plows and carriages.

By the 2280s decade, they were in the midst of a civil war led by opposing Generals Ballor and Decton. Both sides had axes, spears, swords, and rode animals into battle. One side preferred to wear a more leathery type of armor, while the other side wore metallic body armor.

In the year 2285, USS Valor's Captain Philip Hodges crash-landed in the midst of a battle. Seen as a sign from above, he was praised as a deity and cared for. War ceased, and in violation of the Prime Directive, he began to lead the people. He supplemented their farming technology with refined metal for plows. He also used a phaser to defend them against predatory animals and shared his medical knowledge, but feared ever leaving because he thought war would resume. He married one of the inhabitants, Lylla, daughter of Lorac.

Later that year, a rescue party led by Rear Admiral James T. Kirk removed Hodges and his deeply-wounded wife from the planet and did its best to limit the cultural contamination done by Hodge's presence. On Hodges' advice, Lorac was proclaimed the new leader. (TOS comic: "Mortal Gods")
