For the primary universe counterpart, see Betazoid.

In the mirror universe, Betazoids were a telepathic species native to the planet Betazed.

During the days of the Terran Empire, the Betazoid race was nearly destroyed by the Empire because the Terrans felt threatened by telepathic species. Emperor Georgiou took part in the subjugation of their homeworld alongside Captain Tilly at some point prior to 2257. (DSC episode: "Will You Take My Hand?")

By 2371, the few survivors of the Betazoid race left on Betazed worked at the Sacred Chalice, a brothel run by Lwaxana Troi. When Deanna Troi killed Lursa and B'Etor inside the Chalice, the staff and most of the rest of the surviving Betazoids were forced to flee the planet, fearing retaliation from the Alliance. (TNG - Mirror Universe short story: "The Sacred Chalice")
