Bhopal was a city in India on Earth.
In 1984, Bhopal was the site of a disaster in which a Union Carbide Corporation factory lost control of its chemicals, killing many people. Khan Noonien Singh was nearly killed, but Gary Seven rescued him. (TOS novel: The Rise and Fall of Khan Noonien Singh, Volume 1)
