Bicaridine was an analgesic used to treat pain from severe traumatic injuries. It was known to be addictive if used for more than ten days, and thus metorapan was preferred except in cases where the patient was allergic to it. (STO mission: "Cold Comfort")

In 2368, Starfleet Academy Cadet Wesley Crusher was treated with bicaridine instead of metorapan due to an allergy to the latter. (TNG episode: "The First Duty")

In 2409, bicaridine was used to treat a Deferi female who had been shot nonfatally with a disruptor during a Breen boarding action against her freighter. (STO mission: "Cold Comfort")
