Binderians are a civilization native to the planet Binderia.
Ensign Obal was a Binderian who served aboard the USS Stargazer under the command of Captain Jean-Luc Picard as a security guard.
Appearance[]
Several Stargazer personnel noted that Obal, typical of his people, resembled a large, beakless, plucked chicken. Binderians are rather short, and are known to waddle instead of walk. Pug Joseph, Obal's superior, was dismayed by this, as he felt that Obal would not be taken seriously as a guard. However, Obal later displayed incredible strength and fighting prowess that belied his appearance, defending himself against insubordinate crewman Joe Caber. (STA novel: Gauntlet)
Culture and language[]
Kellis dagh is a Binderian word that translates to "defender". If a kellis dagh is attacked while coming to your aid, Binderians consider it the height of cowardice to not defend them. Such a cause was when Caber attacked Ensign Nikolas after attacking Obal. Obal then defended Nikolas, who had come to his aid. (STA novel: Gauntlet)
