A biolab was a laboratory dedicated to biological studies, and could be built in a space station or starship.

History and specifications[]

In the Kelvin timeline's mid-23rd century, circa the 2250s decade, Frontier 17 starbase had a biolab in which flowering phistella sporophytes, Walgettian fire blossoms, and Yolendran spittle pods were kept. (TOS video game: Star Trek)

In the 2260s, at the Federation outpost on Zeta Gibraltar, the biolab was set up to test varieties of winter corn that might survive growing on that world. (TOS novel: Savage Trade)

On a Starfleet starship circa 2304, Elias Vaughn suspected a crewman named Richards had made questionable meatloaf after stealing rats from the biolab during the time the ship was in Tholian space. (DS9 - Mission Gamma novel: Lesser Evil)
