Bistie was a 23rd century Human woman of Navajo heritage. She was a scientist who served aboard the Federation starship USS Enterprise in the 2260s under the command of Captain James T. Kirk.

Biography[]

By the late 2260s, Bistie was a lieutenant of middle age and was in charge of the special studies laboratory aboard the ship.

In the year 2268, she was selected by Commander Spock as one of 14 representatives from sciences and engineering divisions with the capacity to install and operate a pair of proton wave-induction generators. These produced a polarizing induction field intended to disperse a non-corporeal, electrostatic lifeform aboard the ship. During a briefing on the procedure, Bistie asked what their strategy would be if the lifeform tried to escape through engineering to the warp nacelles. She later aided Montgomery Scott in repairing sabotage to the ship's life support systems. (TOS novel: Ghost-Walker)

In 2270, when the Enterprise was captured by the crew of the time travel vessel Nautilus, Bistie was trapped on deck sixteen in the secondary hull, and managed to degauss the cover plates of the food slots using a welder from a maintenance shop. (TOS novel: Crossroad)
