The Bixoxi were a sentient alien civilization native to a homeworld located somewhere in the galaxy's Alpha or Beta Quadrants. Known to the Federation by the 23rd century, the Bixoxi were notable for requiring an induced coma before they could be beamed with a transporter.

In the year 2270, Doctor Leonard McCoy cited the Bixoxi as an example of a species with a biology that made beaming with a transporter unsafe. (TOS novel: No Time Like the Past)
