A blockade was a barrier established to enforce an embargo on the delivery of goods and people to and from a location in order to force the inhabitants of that location into submission. (DSC novel: Wonderlands)

History and specifics[]

24th century[]

In the 2370s decade, the Annari Empire prevented deliveries to and from the Kraylor homeworld. The Kraylor invented a cloaking device to circumvent the Annari's embargo of their world. (VOY episode: "Nightingale")

Perikian class interceptor

The Bajoran Blockade of Derna.

During the Dominion War, the Bajorans enforced a blockade of their moon Derna against the Romulan Star Empire after the Romulans began stockpiling weapons there. (DS9 episode: "Image in the Sand")

During the war between the Gorn Hegemony and the Klingon Empire in the 2390s, the Klingons blockaded Gornar for three years. (STO novel: The Needs of the Many)

25th century[]

In the 2400s and 2410s, the Khitomer Alliance supported its member, the Ferengi Alliance, with breaking up illegal blockades. (STO mission: "Duty Officer System")

The tier 6 version of Federation Starfleet's Steamrunner-class was categorised as a blockade runner. (STO - Reflections mission: "Welcome to Earth Spacedock")

32nd century[]

In the 3180s, the White Palm cartel enforced blockades to expand their control over sectors surrounding the former Starbase 906. In 3188, White Palm raiders blockaded Atalis IV for six weeks to force the Atalis governing body into submission. Iliana Pa'Dan was the last of the couriers to run the blockade, and ended up stranded on Atalis. With the help of Michael Burnham, she overthrew Remington and the White Palm, ending the blockade, and allowing much-needed goods to reach the desert world. (DSC novel: Wonderlands)
