The blue whale (Balaenoptera musculus) was a large cetacean, a whale, indigenous to planet Earth.

History and specificsEdit

It was the largest of the baleen whales, and the largest animal ever to have inhabited Earth.

Humans once hunted blue whales for their meat, blubber and baleen.

In the year 1986, models of adult and calf blue whales were displayed in a glass case at the Cetacean Institute in Sausalito, California. (TOS movie & novelization: Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home)
