Bodine was a 23rd century Human man. He served in Starfleet as a security guard aboard the Federation starship USS Excelsior in the year 2285 under the command of Rear Admiral James T. Kirk.
Biography[]
Bodine's first survey mission was to a previously uncharted planet. He accompanied Commander Thimon, Lieutenant Jed, Ensign William Bearclaw, and Ensign Konom aboard the doomed shuttlecraft NX-2000/E7. Bodine was the first to spot the approach of ten large anthropoid creatures, observing that their evolution on a world of such high radiation was unusual. He advised the others to set their phasers to stun force, and together they fired. However, the animals' thick hides were impervious to phasers. As the landing party retreated, and more of the apes pursued them, he helped the slower-moving Jed climb mountainous terrain. After Bearclaw collapsed a cavern entrance atop a cliff to cut them off from the brutes, Jed assigned Bodine to take the first security watch. (TOS comic: "The Trouble With Bearclaw")
