Bolarus, also known as Bolarus IX, Boliax and Bolias, is a Federation Member State and homeworld of the Bolian species.

The ninth planet in the Bolian system, it's stormy and majorly oceanic. It orbits a red dwarf star. (RPG: Star Trek: Roleplaying Game Starfleet Operations Manual)

Bolarus is located relatively close to the Romulan Neutral Zone, and was one of the theatres of conflict during the Dominion War.

The Bank of Bolias is a prominent Federation financial institution; in 2374, it was robbed by the Orion Syndicate.

Former Federation President Min Zife was from Bolarus, initially serving as a planetary district representative, then as Bolian Federation Councillor, and then as president. Bolarus' current Federation Councillor is Nea. ("Conspiracy" [TNG], Star Trek: Star Charts, "Honor Among Thieves" [DS9], A Time to Kill, Articles of the Federation.)

The many various names are not explained, but it is believed that Bolarus is the "Bolian" name for the planet, Bolarus IX is the Federation cartographical name for it, Bolias may be the name of the systems primary, and Boliax is given as the planet name in Star Trek: Elite Force.
