Memory Beta, non-canon Star Trek Wiki

A friendly reminder regarding spoilers! Boldly Go, Issue 6 is the sixth issue of IDW Publishing's Boldly Go second Star Trek series set in the Kelvin timeline.

Description[]

The hit new series continues with this all-new story set after the events of STAR TREK BEYOND! After their encounter with the deadly Borg, Captain Kirk and the crew of the USS Endeavour face an uncertain future... and a powerful new threat to the Federation!

Summary[]

Captain's log, stardate 2263.125
It's been a month since we embarked on a new survey mission to the edge of the quadrant.
The crew has taken to Commander Sulu just as I knew they would.
Commander Valas is greatly missed, but we could not have a better officer to stand in her stead.
Commander Spock and Lt. Uhura have returned to assist with the growth of colony on New Vulcan until construction of the new
Enterprise is complete.
In the meantime, there's plenty of space waiting to be explored.

The Endeavour approaches a white hole, a previously unseen phenomenon, and begins scanning it. Suddenly, engineering systems are being rerouted. Montgomery Scott finds the source: Lieutenant Hila, whom security locks in the brig. Hila will not explain her reasons, but warns that the starship has to depart the area immediately. Murcia stuns Zahra, breaks his compatriot out of the brig, and both return to engineering. First officer Sulu tells them systems are no longer accessible here, but Hila insists that the white hole is dangerously volatile.

Scans from the ship's probe cause the white hole to expand wildly, with energy fluctuations damaging 11 decks and disabling life support. Hila sheds her Andorian body to reveal a non-corporeal energy lifeform. To save the ship, Hila needs the shields dropped. Sulu convinces James T. Kirk to lower the shields, and Hila flies into the white hole, collapsing it from within at the cost of her life.

Murcia explains that he and Hila were there only to observe the crew, without interfering, but the destruction of the white hole has severed the link between their realities, and he is stuck here.

Captain's log, supplemental.
After heavy deliberation, Starfleet has granted Lt. Murcia's request to resume his duties aboard the Endeavour.
Officially, this is to maintain constant observation as well as cultivate relations between our species.
I just think they didn't know what he'd do if they said no.
In all of the time I've been out here investigating the unknown, I never imagined that we might be investigated too, by species more advanced than ourselves.
Far from being an unsettling thought I take comfort in it.
That the urge to understand, crosses all boundaries...
...And unites us all.
