The Bonaventure class was an Earth spacecraft type, a starship class in Humanity's Starfleet as well as Federation Starfleet's service before the 23rd century. (LD - Lower Decks comic: "Issue 1")

History and specifications[]

Technical specifications[]

 with stations.

Bridge with crew stations.

The Bonaventure consisted of a multi-hulled design with twin warp nacelles connected to the ship through nacelle pylons. The bridge sat atop the primary hull. The primary hull included a primary forward porthole and a pair of secondary forward portholes. These portholes were several decks high. The rim of the saucer section included a row of windows, indicating a height of one deck. A neck connected the primary hull with the secondary hull. A deflector dish extended from the fore of the secondary hull. The shuttlebay was situated at the ship's aft. Attached to one pylon each, the nacelle rose above the secondary hull. The dorsal section of the Bonaventure class included an emergency backup secondary hull. The class carried shuttles and were equipped with escape pods. However, this class eschewed warp core ejection systems.

The bridge layout was reminiscent of the 2260s-era Constitution-class. The captain's ready room included a viewport behind the desk. The warp drive was powered by dilithium crystals and could reach a maximum warp factor of 2.5 on the old warp scale. (LD - Lower Decks comic: "Issue 1")

History[]

The .

The USS Bonaventure (10281NCC).

One ship of this class was the Bonaventure, with the unusual NCC registry number 10281NCC. It was equipped with a revolutionary warp drive and was lost in the alternate universe of Elysia within the Delta Triangle region of space at some point before the year 2269. When the ship was discovered by the 23rd century USS Enterprise, science officer Commander Spock suggested that the descendants of the crew may still be alive. Due to the conditions in this universe, the Elysians, who were survivors of stranded vessels, were extremely long-lived. A Bonaventure officer sat on the Elysian Council. (TAS episode: "The Time Trap")

In one account, the 21st century SS Bonaventure was lost in the Delta Triangle in the year 2079. (ST reference: Star Charts)

Federation Starfleet constructed another ship named the USS Bonaventure (NCC-1000), which was tested at the Starfleet Proving Grounds. It was the prototype of its own Bonaventure-class. (ST reference: Ships of the Line)

In the 24th century, the USS Bonaventure was regarded as part of an era after Captain Jonathan Archer and before Captains Christopher Pike and Philippa Georgiou, otherwise an era between legendary Starfleet captains. (LD - Lower Decks comic: "Issue 1")

Coupled with the low maximum warp factor, this may place the Bonaventure-class in the 22nd century.

Around 2269 to 2270, several months after reproducing Spock's formula, and several months after gathering resources and equipping the Bonaventure with chemical rockets, Captain Moyo and the crew of the Bonaventure returned with their ship to normal space and set course for Earth after its dilithium crystals had reconstituted. On stardate 59010.2 in 2382, the USS Cerritos discovered the Bonaventure intact but derelict. Commander Jack Ransom led an away team aboard to determine the crews' whereabouts. (LD - Lower Decks comic: "Issue 1")

At the .

At the Starfleet Air and Space Museum.

At some point in the 2290s or after, the Bonaventure or another ship of its class was displayed for public access in the Starfleet Air and Space Museum, alongside the decommissioned USS Enterprise-A and the prototype interstellar vessel USS Enterprise (XCV-330).
