The Book of Tears was an important book of Orion civilization.

It was compiled shortly after 12,189 BCE (reference stardate -141/8901), when the 22nd Rigel Conference allowed the return of Orion slaves to rebuild Botchok (Rigel VIII) following the Atom War and the Long Winter, in a reconstruction effort known as the First Stage.

The Book of Tears contained firsthand depictions of the destruction, waste and carnage that all Orion slaves were required to clean up. It included vows from the Orions that they would not let such a thing happen again, that they would never again be so cruelly used. Thus they plotted to develop or steal advanced technology, having been denied access to it by the Treaty of Kammzdast. (FASA RPG module: The Orions: Book of Common Knowledge)
