Boreth was the name of a Klingon colony and is home to the Boreth Monastery. This world holds a special place within the Klingon Empire's history as being the location to which Kahless the Unforgettable would return to during The Story of the Promise. As such, many faithful Klingon warriors journey to Boreth and consult the wise Clerics of Boreth on matters pertaining honor and on dealing with the spirit of Kahless. History
Once Qo'noS achieved warp technology, the planet Boreth was one of the earliest colony worlds settled due to the spiritual importance placed on it by Kahless. After arrival on this world, a monastery was established that grew over a span of centuries and quickly became the central spiritual centre for the Klingon Empire. This sheer importance of the planet meant that in the turbulent times of the 22nd century, Boreth was strictly off limits to any outsider with unauthorised vessels from offworlers being destroyed without warning. The sacred nature of the monastery meant that any any mission to Boreth in this time frame was extremely dangerous.

This policy remained even till the 23rd century and Boreth became an important spiritual location in the Klingon Empire when it began establishing a rule over its colonies by way of governors and its powerful military. This era saw the Klingons face conflict on numerous galactic fronts and meant that Boreth was frequently visited by warriors who sought visions and guidance on the fields of battle. In the 24th century, the Klingon Empire suffered from a period of corruption and a spiritual crisis that damaged the heart of the Klingon people. This saw many Klingons disenchanted with the way their society was heading and these individuals travelled to Boreth in the hope of returning to their traditional ways. (Decipher RPG module: Worlds)
