The Borg transwarp gateway, also known as transwarp conduit, was a 25th century Borg space station type, a transwarp gate class in Collective service in the 2400s decade. It enabled long-distance travel through space. (STO - Task Force Operation mission: "Infected: The Conduit")

History and specifics[]

The Borg gateway, or conduit, consisted of two hexagonal frames, with the smaller one nestled into the larger one. This space station was oriented tall in space. When active, the center contained an apertured into a transwarp conduit. Beyond the in-built deflector shield, a station of this class could receive a near-impenetrable additional layer of shielding from a pair of nanite transformers, which themselves were surrounded by a quad of nanite generators. When these substations were damaged, dedicated nanite probes could repair them. In the year 2409, the Borg erected the Gateway in the Sibiran star system during their occupation of Starbase 82. Admiral D'Vak led a joint Omega Force task force into the system to destroy the conduit and its defending ships and stations. (STO - Task Force Operation mission: "Infected: The Conduit")

In the same year, the Borg established a pair of transwarp conduits in the Quadra Sigma system. Guarded by Donatra of Borg and the assimilated IRW Valdore, Borg spheres and interceptor-type Borg probes emerged from these conduits and headed for the Khitomer Vortex, a time vortex to travel into the recent past during the Borg Invasion of 2409 at the Vega colony. D'Vak's task force intercepted the Borg ships and destroyed both the conduits and their substations. (STO - Task Force Operation mission: "Khitomer Vortex")

In the 2400s, the Federation had reverse-engineered this technology and established its own Federation transwarp network. One such facility was located at Sierra Outpost II. (STO - Romulan Mystery mission: "Minefield")

During the Iconian War in 2410, the desperate Khitomer Alliance deployed the Krenim-designed Annorax-class timeship KIS Annorax in order to defeat the Iconians. Following an alteration that restored Romulus as an assimilated planet, the Annorax erased a transwarp gate from history to curb the Collective's expansion. (STO - The Iconian War mission: "Butterfly")
