D7 class warbird — Klingon warbirds, D7 *Bortas*-class.

In the Kelvin timeline, the Bortas class^[1] was a 23rd century Klingon starship type, a battlecruiser^[2] in Klingon Empire from the 2230s^[3] to the 2260s^[4] decades. (TOS movie, novelization & comic adaptation: Star Trek, ST video game: Fleet Command)

History and specifications[]

The Bortas was part of the D7-class family of battlecruisers. (The Official Starships Collection Issue Special 13: "Klingon Battlecruiser Star Trek (2009)")

In the 2250s decade, Starfleet identified this type as Klingon warbird. (TOS movie, novelization & comic adaptation: Star Trek)

They were also known as D7-class Klingon battlecruisers. (The Official Starships Collection Issue Special 13: "Klingon Battlecruiser Star Trek (2009)")

Those deployed in the Trench were identified as heavy battlecruisers. (TOS video game: Bridge Command)

In the 2260s decade, at least one variant of the Bortas class served as battleships. Ships of this class were equipped with deflector shields and directed energy weapons that fired beams. (ST video game: Fleet Command)

Factions and encounters[]

In the years 2262 and 2263, Independents fought numerous vessels of this class in the Neutral Zone and surrounding areas. (ST video game: Fleet Command)

The bounty hunter Glocon was hired to take out the Independent commander of Home Base and his artificial intelligence ally Maia. Montgomery Scott learned of the plot and had Maia warned.

Maia and her compatriot laid a trap for Glocon in the Opla system. Nyota Uhura had revealed Glocon would be there. In a brief battle, the Independent ship defeated Glocon's battleship. Glocon called the victory of the Human a fluke and refused to tell Maia who had hired him. (ST video game: Fleet Command mission "Glocon")
