A boryx was a predator animal, a lifeform presumably native to the Klingon Empire world Tahrn. They have orange fur, and comes in two varieties: barred and plain.
It uses its forepaws for fishing in shallow waters. Extremely territorial and vicious fighters, the males will often castrate rivals, keeping the total population low. (TOS novel: Pawns and Symbols)
