Botswana is a nation-state in southern Africa on the planet Earth. It bordered Angola, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.

According to Khan Noonien Singh, Botswana was the site of a secret genetic engineering laboratory in the 1970s, similar to the Bombay group school that enhanced Khan. In the 1980s the Augments used it as a training facility. (TOS - Khan comic: "Issue 2")
In September 1992 Augment Dictator Ama Owusu annexed Botswana into United Africa. By 1996, Botswana was part of the African Caliphates before the Augment dictatorships were overthrown. (TOS - Khan comics: "Issue 2", "Issue 3")
